About Us
Eric moved to Colorado Springs in 1985, became a fireman with the City of Colorado Springs in 1987, and started his first business in 1996. In the years between becoming a fireman and starting his first business, Eric served as President of the Colorado Springs Professional Firefighters, worked for America West Airlines in the sales and reservation center, and spent 11 years as a Big Brother in the Big Brother Big Sister Program.
Eric’s first business was Generations Entertainment, a mobile music DJ business. Eric sold his share of the business to a partner and started Performance Mobile Lube, described as a Jiffy Lube on wheels.
Eric had been roasting coffee at home in the years prior to starting Colorado Coffee Merchants as a hobby and passion for a better cup of coffee.
In 2004, after finding a location to put his small batch commercial coffee roaster, Eric decided to formally go into the business of coffee roasting.
Eric mothballed his mobile oil and lube business and opened the doors to the public of his small coffee roastery on April 1, 2004.
He now has 3 full time employees. And he is fully retired from the
Colorado Springs Fire Department, allowing him to pour his full passion into every cup of coffee.

Our History
Colorado Coffee Merchants began in April, 2004. We started with a small 8lb fluid bed air roaster and 3 bags of coffee beans, roasting in the evening for family & friends.
Our intention was not to be in the coffee business, but to just roast for ourselves. People started walking in the door and asking to buy coffee from us to take home; and thus began a business focused on roasting high-grade coffee for the discerning connoisseur.
